Here’s the video of the segment that I talked about here.  In addition to the question about Making Home Affordable, we also talk about private student loans, opting out of credit card interest rate hikes, and preparing for a loss of income.

    Jean,
I am way overextended in CC debt. It has gotten to the point where with a few exceptions, I pay just over the minimum every month. And then I am left with next to nothing left. I called all the cards with high APR’s to ask if any would lower them and all said no. Less than a week later one even cut my credit amount by $500. I am not looking to file for bankruptcy at all. But if the APR’s on a bunch of these cards were not around 25% it would be very helpful. I was looking into a credit counselor near me through the NFCC but my problem is they charge a consultation fee and I can not afford it. Any suggestions?
