This segment resonated with me as I just pulled the trigger on disability insurance. While my husband and I have had life insurance for several years now, we realized that we really needed disability insurance for the both of us when he had an accident and needed surgery. His time out of work was a reminder that we don't survive well on one income. My employer does not offer disability insurance, and so it was expensive to buy on my own - I didn't enjoy sending off the check, and I hope it's something we never use. Still, I think we're prepared and have done the right thing.
